Ch. 51 - Christopher's Recovery

Christopher was trying to pick up with his life since his abduction. He had gotten a promotion as the Executive Chef at Parlez-vous Francais, a new French restaurant in town. He hadn't shown his father (or anyone else for that matter) the big scar on his stomach. He hadn't told him what they did to him while he was up there. He didn't want his father to think of him as a freak. Christopher was trying to forget what happened to him that night. However, that was proving more and more difficult.

Christopher wasn't feeling so well anymore, and he suspected that he knew why. He would be the laughing stock of the town once this news got out. Certainly that stupid rag, the Strangetown Gazette would get wind of this and when they did, well Christopher knew his life would never be the same again. Maybe he would have a normal looking baby and people would never know. Christopher made a mental note to say extra prayers that night.

However, this whole experience had been an eye-opener in a way for Christopher. Life is precious and delicate. His father was right. He very well may have never come back that night. He needed to live his life while he was still around to enjoy it. He made a few phone calls, then invited Willow over. Christopher paced while he eagerly waited for her arrival. Finally, the doorbell rang, and he went outside to greet her.

Christopher got down on one knee and proposed marriage to Willow. So what if she wasn't his "soul mate"? She was funny, cute, smart and darn it - he loved her. She is the one he was thinking of while he was up there being *shudder*... having that stuff done to him.

"Willow, I know that I'm not perfect and you may find that I'm a bit...umm...different, but I love you and I want to spend my life with you. I promise you that I will treat you like a Queen and I'll cherish you forever. I want to build a life with you - have kids with you - grow old with you".

Well how could a girl turn that down?


Willow let out a big gasp, then managed to whisper, "Christopher...". After gazing at her ring for a few moments, she was finally able to speak.

"Chrissie. Nobody has ever...I mean...people don't usually treat me like this. Nobody's ever wanted to marry me before. I love you Chrissie. Yes. YES! I'll marry you!"

Willow almost knocked him over when she hugged him. Christopher told her that there were a few things they needed to talk about before they got married, like the fact that he really didn't like being called Chrissie.

She just batted her eyelashes and said "But it's my pet name for you. Isn't it cute?". He was thinking "NO IT'S NOT", but said "Yes Sweetie, it is".

They sat down and he told her all about the abduction. He even showed her the scar on his stomach. He told her about his sickness and what he thinks is happening to him. Willow put her arm around Christopher and said "Baby, I said I love you. That means your outsides and your insides, no matter what they changed around in there...and no matter what else is in there".

Christopher knew then that he had made the right choice. Maybe he could have a normal life afterall.
